RULES and REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES
The South Carolina State Fair General Rules and Regulations shall apply.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Exhibitor must be a resident of South Carolina and entries must have been grown by the exhibitor in South Carolina.

ENTRY REGISTRATION
Registration is required during the Open or Late Entry Registrations Periods.
        Register by the preferred method by using the Online Entry System
        You may also register using a current South Carolina State Fair Official Entry form.

ENTRY REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
Online entry registrations are automatically confirmed at time of submission.
Please print and bring your confirmation on Delivery Day.
Exhibitors who postal mail their entry registrations and desire a confirmation must include a self-addressed,
stamped business size envelope.
Please do not telephone the Fair or Entry Office.

LATE ENTRY REGISTRATIONS
Entry forms received during late registration must be accompanied by the $25 Late Fee.
Late fees may be charged to a major credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or money order. Checks will not be accepted during the Late Entry Registration Period.
Absolutely no entries will be accepted following the close of the registration period.

LIMITATIONS
Exhibitor may register one (1) entry per class, with exception of Honey and Wine Divisions where multiple entries (from different years/vintage years) may be placed in one class by same exhibitor. All entries not in accordance with the schedule will be disqualified.

DELIVERY OF EXHIBITS TO FAIR
Agriculture exhibits will be received in the Ellison Building only during the dates and times listed under the Very Important Datesa

JUDGING
Judging will take place on the day (Tuesday) prior to Opening Day of Fair and is closed to the public. Exhibitors are encouraged to visit the fair on Opening Day (admission $1.00 for everyone) of the fair or refer to the Judging Results web page. Results will not be released by telephone or email.

RESTRICTIONS
Spanish Moss, nor any other highly flammable substance, is NOT allowed in any building on the fairgrounds.

CARE OF EXHIBITS DURING FAIR
After judging is completed, the Agriculture Superintendent reserves the right to maintain all exhibits in show condition. If an exhibit deteriorates to where it detracts from the entire exhibit, it will be removed from the exhibition area.

RELEASE OF EXHIBITS
The Fair will not be responsible for exhibits or ribbons left past this time (See Above. Very Important Dates). Unclaimed exhibits become the property of the SC State Fair and will be disposed of or donated to charity.

Density - water content above 18.6% will be disqualified
Absence of crystals
Cleanliness of honey - Without lint, without dirt, without wax particles, without foam
Flavor - ONLY for honey flavor adversely affected by processing
Container appearance and cleanliness
Accuracy of filling

Neatness and uniformity of cut - Upgrade for parallel and 4-sided cuts; downgrade for ragged edges

Sweet Potatoes must be displayed in new, clean containers, meeting the requirements in grade of U.S. Extra No. 1 as to diameter and length for this grade.
All exhibitors exhibiting a 25-Potato exhibit must also exhibit a three (3) container exhibit to be eligible and vice versa.
Potatoes not meeting the above requirements will not be sold.

W - Wine

RULES & REGULATIONS

WINE
1.   Exhibitor may enter more than one (1) wine in a Class, but must be from different vintage years. Once a wine is entered in a Class, it cannot be entered into any other Class.

2.   Wine must be contained in standard 750 ML Burgundy, Bordeaux or Rhine shaped bottle.

3.   Screw cap bottles are permitted using only screw cap enclosure.

4.   Wines entered shall be free of artificial coloring or flavor enhancers other than oak.

5.   Previous winners may not enter the same wine in subsequent years.

6.   All wines must be produced and bottled in South Carolina.

7.   Each class must contain at least two (2) entries by different exhibitors to be judged.

8.   Do not place name, label or any other identifying feature on wine bottle, cork or screw cap. Entries not adhering to this rule will be disqualified.

9.   Wines not within residual sugar requirements of section entered will be disqualified.

10.   All exhibitors must show a claim ticket to pick up entries. Entries not claimed between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the day immediately following the fair will be discarded.

11.   No entrant shall be involved in any way with commercial wine making or use the facilities of commercial wineries.
