RULES and REGULATIONS

PUBLIC SALES REGISTER
During the fair, there is a ‘Public Sales Register’ to record persons (names and contact information) who are interested in purchasing artwork in the exhibit. If your artwork is marked with a red dot on the entry tag, ask to see the Sales Register only when claiming your artwork.
The SC State Fair does not negotiate purchases for artwork and is not responsible or liable for any personal transactions.

GENERAL RULES
The South Carolina State Fair General Rules and Regulations shall apply.

NUMBER OF WORKS
Maximum of two (2) entries per exhibitor

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Adult Exhibitor (18+) must be a resident of South Carolina or attending a college or university in South Carolina or a member of the Armed Forces stationed in South Carolina; 
Work of adult art students eligible only if executed without the help of the instructor; 
Artwork must be original and completed in last two (2) years;
Artwork that has been accepted and shown in a previous South Carolina State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition is ineligible.

ENTRY REGISTRATION
Registration is required during the Open or Late Entry Registrations Periods.
        Register by the preferred method by using the Online Entry System
        You may also register using a current South Carolina State Fair Official Entry form.
            Fine Art Amateur form.
            Fine Art Professional form.

ENTRY REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
Online entry registrations are automatically confirmed at time of submission.
Please print and bring your confirmation on Delivery Day with your artwork.
Exhibitors who postal mail their entry registrations and desire a confirmation must include a self-addressed,
stamped business size envelope.
Please do not telephone the Fair or Entry Office.

LATE ENTRY REGISTRATIONS
Entry forms received during late registration must be accompanied by the $25 Late Fee.
Late fees may be charged to a major credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or money order. Checks will not be accepted during the Late Entry Registration Period.
Absolutely no entries will be accepted following the close of the registration period.

Professional
Amateur
All classes, w/exception of Photography which Divisions are termed NOVICE & ADVANCED see description on Division pages).

PROFESSIONAL VS AMATEUR DEFINED
A Professional Exhibitor is defined as anyone who has earned $1,000 or more during a calendar year either by selling their items, teaching the subject, doing extended exhibiting, or involving themselves in other professionally related activities in a capacity that would give the entrant unfair advantage over an amateur.
    The exhibitor must declare on the entry registration form whether he/she is an Amateur or Professional artist.
    The Fine Art Committee allows each artist the discretion of determining whether to enter as a Professional or an Amateur; however, once the Amateur artist declares to be a Professional, he/she may not enter this show in future years as an Amateur.
    An exhibitor may register a maximum of two works in either division, but not both.

SPECIFICATIONS
Entries must be of permanent materials requiring no special installation; 

SIZE REQUIREMENTS
Frames must measure at least 16" in any dimension and cannot exceed 48" in any dimension. 
3-D pieces must be free-standing;
Sculpture size is limited to 8' x 3' x 2 1/2' (30") 
Sculpture weight is limited to fifty (50) pounds and must be portable.
Framed works must be wired for hanging. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS!
Classes requiring frames with glass or Plexiglas are: *0202, 0203, *0206, 0207, *0208, *0302, 0303, *0306, 0307, and *0308; [Exceptions (*)
Classes 0206 and 0306 Painting on Watercolor Board that has been sprayed with sealant must be framed but glass is optional and left to the discretion of the artist.
Classes 0203 and 0303 Mixed Media using canvas does not require glass or Plexiglas and a frame is optional with finished edges.
Classes 0207 and 0307 Photography printed on canvas does not require glass or Plexiglas and a frame is optional, but must have device for hanging. Photography printed on metal does not require glass or Plexiglas or a frame, but must have a device for hanging.

UNACCEPTABLE
The following are examples of reasons that artwork will be rejected by Fine Art staff upon delivery:
    Artwork that has been entered or exhibited in any previous SCSF Fine Art Exhibition;
    Artwork with sawtooth hangers;
    Metal and plastic frames with glass (must use plexiglas);
    Classroom artwork;
    Step-by-step artwork;
    Uni-frames or frames with exposed glass edges;
    Wet art work;
    Diptychs or multiples are not accepted as one piece;
    Collaborative work;
    Work requiring more than normal careful handling.

NOTICES
The SC State Fair Fine Art staff reserves the right to change the classification of an entry if the juror or staff feels it belongs in a different class, or to remove an entry from competition if it is not in compliance with fair rules or conditions.
SC State Fair management reserves the right to deny entry and/or remove any artwork deemed inappropriate for this type exhibit and to interpret any rule or regulation and determine all matters pertaining thereto.

PRICING ARTWORK
The exhibitor may offer their artwork for sale by stating, in whole dollars, the Public Price or mark NFS (Not for Sale) on entry form or online entry.

TITLE ARTWORK
The exhibitor should either (1) title their artwork or (2) list as UNTITLED on entry form. Please keep the title brief so that it will fit on the entry tag and in the reception program. Long titles will be subject to edit.
